Attic Office Space Update With Pictures

I recently posted about how I’m getting a new writing room in the soon-to-be finished attic. Of course, the whole space won’t be entirely devoted to my writing pursuits. It will also serve as a playroom, a room for others to pursue their creative talents, and a workout room. I only posted one picture and several of you asked for updates with more pictures, so here we go!

Mostly empty attic. The green in the ceiling is spray foam insulation and you can see old duct work and the loose boards that served as a floor.

August 2013: Mostly empty attic. The green in the ceiling is spray foam insulation and you can see uncovered duct work and the loose boards that served as a floor.

April 2014: Similar view as above…now with subfloor finished, duct work hidden, and a half wall framed out around the staircase.

April 2014: Good look at the duct work, which will be hidden behind a knee wall. Where those boxes and the toolbox is will be a closet.

That means painting comes next, and we already have the colors picked and the paint purchased. There was also a lot of behind the scenes work that you don’t see in the picture, like electrical and stuff. I can’t take credit for any of the work, though! The hubby has done a lot of it himself and we contracted some of it out, given the time constraint we’re under. What do you all think of the progress?

Winter 2013-14 in Pictures

Like many of you have been experiencing, our winter here has been snowy and cold. A few days in the 50’s this weekend made me hopeful that spring really is around the corner. Too bad we still have enough snow around to make it hard to even play in the yard with The Boy. Here’s a look at my winter in pictures.

Before winter even started, we had this lovely snow/ice storm in which our garage had a close call with branches from the neighbor’s tree.

IMAG1222

While Daddy braved the ice to cut down the branches, The Boy got out his saw and went to work on his car.

Never too cold to go pantless.

IMAG1286

I have to believe this face is a result of frustration over news of more cold and snow.

A rare snowfree walk downtown.

IMAG1294

I think he’s simply given up on ever being able to play in the yard again.

Found a little patch of grass to ground myself.

The Boy “grounding” himself as best he can when Mommy won’t let him be like her and take his boots off.

IMAG1309

Just like it’s never too cold to go pantless, it’s never too cold for some cool shades.

IMAG1311

This about sums up how The Boy feels about sleeping in his bed lately.

IMAG1316

Lots of snow, but warm enough for some much-needed fresh air and sunshine.

Summer Update

Where did the week go? Where is the summer going? Spent a good part of the week offline, and boy, did I need that. In an effort not to be too neglectful of my dear blog readers, here’s a post in pictures.

Blog Tour Banner-page0001

One of the reasons I’ve been so busy is I’ve been preparing for the paperback release of Elixir Bound this fall, including this massive blog tour! Stay tuned for more specific details on this. I have a feeling you all will be sick of me by the time September ends! 🙂

And now for some fun summer pics!

What have you been up to this summer?

Spring 2013 in Pictures

As the unofficial start of summer kicked off this past weekend, I thought I’d take a look back at what I did this spring. As seems to be the usual lately in coastal CT March weather was crappy, May proved far rainier than April, and June looks to be starting out hot, hot, hot. But you know what they say about weather in New England…if you don’t like it, just wait a few minutes.

So what I have been up to lately (other than writing Elixir Saved and editing other poeple’s books)? Mostly hanging out with The Boy. Here’s a picture essay of my spring.

I’m sure summer will bring lots more zoo, park, beach time. Maybe some fireworks thrown in there. Perhaps a completed draft of Elixir Saved. A weekend trip to upstate New York for the end of the summer. The Boy’s 2nd birthday. I’m trying to plan a low key family trip for early September, but not making much progress on that. What are your plans for the summer?
