Books for kids, teens, & those who are young at heart

Spring 2013 in Pictures

As the unofficial start of summer kicked off this past weekend, I thought I’d take a look back at what I did this spring. As seems to be the usual lately in coastal CT March weather was crappy, May proved far rainier than April, and June looks to be starting out hot, hot, hot. But you know what they say about weather in New England…if you don’t like it, just wait a few minutes.

So what I have been up to lately (other than writing Elixir Saved and editing other poeple’s books)? Mostly hanging out with The Boy. Here’s a picture essay of my spring.

I’m sure summer will bring lots more zoo, park, beach time. Maybe some fireworks thrown in there. Perhaps a completed draft of Elixir Saved. A weekend trip to upstate New York for the end of the summer. The Boy’s 2nd birthday. I’m trying to plan a low key family trip for early September, but not making much progress on that. What are your plans for the summer?

Great pictures. I remember my hiking days. I do miss them. Doubt if I’d make it up those steps. Glad you’re taking the time to enjoy your little one. They grow up way too fast and you’re making beautiful memories.

Glad you enjoyed the pictures, Roseanne. They do grow up too fast. Just trying to take in and enjoy all the precious moments.

Looks like a wonderful spring. Thanks for sharing. I’m eager to get some of that hot weather I hear people talk about. It feels like forever since we’ve had hot around here!

    • Katie L. Carroll

It sure was hot this weekend here, but it’s supposed to be a bit more temperate for the rest of the week. Hope the warm weather gets to you soon, Kai!

Great pix! Is that the Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, CT? I’ve hiked there. Graduated from QU right next to it too!

    • Katie L. Carroll

Yes, that is Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden. QU has such a pretty campus…almost went there myself, but ended up at Sacred Heart in Fairfield instead. Small world!

I grew up in Clinton. πŸ™‚

Lovely post, Katie. Great pics. Sounds like despite the yucky weather, you’ve managed to do fun things with the little one. One of my daughter takes her two little ones (4 & 2) to the zoo a lot. They love it. They got a year pass, so they can go anytime, and if the kids tire, they can leave, not feeling like they’ve lost money on the trip.
Our spring was delightfully mild. Temps were so low the tornadoes didn’t start until mid May. Usually they start in March. Heading to RomCon later this month, with first book coming out in July. Friends trip to New Mexico in late August. Hopefully get a second book sold, and focus serious editing of a couple of books, I’ve “finished.” LOL Good luck with your edits.

Hi, Marsha! The zoo near us is pretty inexpensive and The Boy is still free until he’s three. It really is a great trip for little ones.

Oh, the reports of all those tornadoes have been so heartbreaking. I hope you stay safe this season.

Sounds like you’ve got a full summer planned…enjoy! And thanks for the well wishes on my next book. πŸ™‚

It looks like you’ve spent a lot of good quality time with your son. I bet he’ll have many fond memories when he gets older πŸ™‚

    • Katie L. Carroll

Thanks, Beth. Well even if he doesn’t remember all these moments when he’s older, we’ll have plenty of pictures to show him!

Fantastic to see The Boy, though we can only *almost* see him. You must be concerned he may become a child star.
Best summer, Katie, to you and all of yours.

    • Katie L. Carroll

I can’t get anything past you, Mirka. The hubby and I just like to be conservative about the pics of The Boy on the Internet. Have a great summer!
