A New Home for THE BEDTIME KNIGHT

It’s a sad fact that I don’t give nearly enough love here on the blog for my picture app THE BEDTIME KNIGHT. It really is a fun, imaginative story (with some insight into what I was scared of as a child), and I love how illustrator Erika Baird brought it to life with pictures. The blurb reads:

When this mouse’s nightlight turns off, shadows turn into scary things in the dark. But when Daddy shines his flashlight on them, they disappear and turn into friendly things! Read along to find out if this tiny mouse can overcome her fear of the dark.

The thing that got me thinking about THE BEDTIME KNIGHT is that it now has a new home! It was originally published by MeeGenius, a children’t eBook subscription service, which was recently acquired by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (who earlier this year acquired Scholastic’s Educational Technology and Services business for $575 million).

THE BEDTIME KNIGHT will be and is still available through the MeeGenius platform. I’m excited about this new partnership and am hoping it will help my picture book app find new readers.

Happy Friday, everyone!

“The Bedtime Knight” Is Born

Today marked the day my picture book The Bedtime Knight, illustrated by Erika Baird, originally released with a company called MeeGenuis. While it’s no longer available there, you can now buy the ebook or signed copies of the paperback on the Purchase Books page

You also find it at BookshopAmazonBarnes & NobleKobo, or Book Depository (for international folks). Listen to the audiobook on ChirpBarnes & Noble, Kobo, Audible, Libro.fm, Scribd, Audiobooks.com, and Google Play.

When the lights turn off at bedtime, a young mouse’s imagination runs wild. Daddy Knight charges in to the rescue and sheds light on what the shadows really are. Then he empowers his daughter to turn the scary shadows into fun imaginings.

THE BEDTIME KNIGHT is a gentle way to face the childhood fear of the dark. Perfect for a bedtime story or as a read-aloud any time of day.

“The Bedtime Knight” Cover Reveal

With my first in-person author event at the Milford Public Library fast approaching, I have another exciting announcement about my books (that’s right, I said books, plural!). My picture book app “The Bedtime Knight” has a cover and a release date set for early November from MeeGenius!

With a little help from Daddy Knight, a young child learns how to turn the scary shadows of the night into fun imaginings.

The talented Erika Baird illustrated “The Bedtime Knight.” She came up with a super-creative idea that showcases the story with a dual narrative going on in the illustrations. Curious to know more about what I mean? Well…then you’ll have to go buy the book when it comes out!

Also, did I mention my first author event is coming up October 13th at 2:00 at the Milford Public Library? Local papers the Milford Mirror and the Milford Patch have all you need to know about meeting me, Katie L. Carroll, in person!

A Promised Announcement

Astute readers, you may remember at the beginning of last month I mentioned I had a big announcement. The time has come to tell you I have another book besides Elixir Bound coming out soon (not sure of the release date yet, but maybe even before Elixir). And guess what? It’s a picture book!

“A picture book?” you say. “But, Katie, you’ve never mentioned anything about a picture book. I thought you only wrote novels.”

Well, you thought wrong. My picture book The Bedtime Knight is coming out through MeeGenius! as a picture book app. The illustrations are being worked on right now (okay, maybe not this second, but the text is finalized and with the illustrator right now).

It’s going to be an exciting summer. I’ve got a certain milestone birthday next month. The Boy will be turning one. And, of course, Elixir Bound (and now maybe The Bedtime Knight) will be out in the big, wide world.

Oh, I almost forgot…I’ve been hard at work on a new website, which I hope to be lauching very soon. That means the Observation Desk will be making a cyber-move from Blogger to WordPress. No worries, I’m taking you all with me!
