Elixir Bound in the Wild

Elixir Bound technically doesn’t release until tomorrow, but it’s already been spotted out in the wild (and is available on Amazon a day early!).

Out in the wild means on my twin-not-twin’s computer! It is a real purchased version, though…not just one I gave her!

As if you weren’t sick enough of hearing about Elixir Bound, I’ve got a whole schedule of guest blog posts lined up. This week I’ve already talked about the cover art process on Mary Ann’s blog, writing lessons from The Boy on Sarah’s blog, and scene revision on Stephanie’s blog.

If you only read one of my guest blog posts, please check out tomorrow’s very special post on Meradeth’s blog. It’s the sad, but hopefully inspirational, story of how I became a writer.

In other book news, one of my favorite writing buddies Kimberly Sabatini is giving away swag for her upcoming novel Touching the Surface. You should definitely check out her book and blog.

Eleven Days Until Elixir Bound!

Eleven days and counting until the release of Elixir Bound! That means you only have  eleven days left to pre-order it at a 20% discount! Yes, I’m speaking all in exclamation points! What else would you expect when my book comes out in eleven days?

What have I’ve been doing in the eleventh hour leading up to the release? Mostly working (even while I’m on vacation in Newport this week…okay, I have been having a little fun too!).

Yesterday we took a walk around Fort Adams in Newport and I took this picture of the Claiborne Pell Bridge. The weather has been very pleasant…almost like fall. We saw a little rainbow in the evening as we were eating dinner on the deck of our suite.

I had bookmarks made up for Elixir Bound, but there was a “cutting error” and they images were all off-center, so they’re being remade. Hopefully they’ll be ready for my first in-person appearance as an author at my local library on October 13.

The blog tour officially starts next week, so I’ve created a sidebar with all my stops listed. I’ll hopefully have some reviews to share with you all soon (don’t worry, I’ll only share the good ones!).

Talking about vacationing in Newport has made me think of all those essays you used to have to write when you got back to school in the fall about what you did over the summer. So please comment in 250 words or less what you did this summer!

Elixir Bound and Other Book News

After receiving so many great comments on my lucid dreams post, I have been planning (and by planning, I mean thinking about in my head, but not writing down a single word) another thoughtful blog post.

Instead (given I have an almost 1-year-old, a full-time job and several part-time ones, and a vacation to get ready for), I present to you this slightly less thoughtful newsy post.

Elixir Bound is up for pre-sale on the MuseItUp website! Feel free to order a million copies (give or take a few) for your reading pleasure. You can also read an excerpt from the beginning of the book.

This weekend I met a young author (and by young, I mean she’s 13 and is already working on her second book!) at a book signing. Kyla LoPresti had a dream about reincarnation that inspired her to write Flashback. She is certainly an inspiration to all writers, young and old!

And finally, on Monday author Sue Perkins will be guest posting about her YA fantasy Dragon Clans book two in her Dragons series.

Enjoy the weekend!

Elixir Bound Excerpt on Muse Blog

I’m super busy gearing up for the release of Elixir Bound on August 31. Soooo….get ready for a promotional frenzy in late August and continuing into September.

I’ll be sharing excerpts of Elixir Bound; inside info about creating the cover; why I wrote the story in the first place; interviews; writing tips on scenes and characters; writing lesson from The Boy; and who knows what else.

But guess what? You actually don’t have to wait until late August because the frenzy starts today! It just so happens, you can get a sneak peak of Elixir Bound on the MuseItUp blog. And it’s a lip-smacking juicy one!

I’d love to know what you all think. (Unless you don’t like it…then you can kindly keep your terrible opinions to yourself!)

Elixir Bound Cover Reveal

The good stuff just keeps rolling on in! I have a special treat for you in this month’s WIP Wednesday post: the cover of Elixir Bound!

There’s so many great details. The bottle of Elixir at the top, the vine of little white flowers, and the main character, Katora. I love her expression. When I first saw the cover, I almost didn’t notice the shape of mountains at the bottom (a wonderful depiction of The Sleeping Giant mountain range from the book). The best part: what else but my name…on the cover of a book!!!

*Sighs* with contentment.

Seriously, though, the blog has gotten way too writerly/booky lately. I promise I’ll be branching out with some different topics. Look for some science updates, more magnetic poetry, maybe a fun anecdote or two. All that and more to come on my new website. That’s right…my website is just about ready. My next (and last post on blogger) will guide you to my new website.

What have all of you been up to?
